On Tuesday, October 27th, we were honored to have author Steve Backlund speak to the World Changers School of Book Writing. He taught the class how to “Manage Your Life to Write a Book.”
Steve and his wife Wendy were senior church leaders for 17 years. In 2008, they transitioned to Bethel Church where Steve now trains students in Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry to get them ready for career ministry. He also co-leads Global Legacy’s Leadership Development Program with Paul Manwaring and travels regularly ministering to churches and leadership teams.
Steve is the author of five revival books:
Managing Your Life to Write a Book
The Three Key Areas to “Manage”
- Your beliefs – unlocking the unlimited potential in you
- We must believe who God says we are, not what our experience says we are
- Apply the Joel 3:10 principle to every area of your life – including your writing
- Put greater emphasis on your beliefs than your conduct (grace is released when you do)
- Deal a death blow to unworthiness and performance based Christianity – it blocks creativity
- Your message and purpose – sharpening your axe
- Burn for something and increase the fire
- Position yourself to receive radical input into this area of your passion
- Note unusual coincidences, repeated prophecies, the things that you are drawn to
- Keep growing as a person – stretch yourself and build new “muscles”
- Do things that you have never heard anyone ever doing before
- Take risks and experiment in God
- Your time – giving God something to work with
- The Bruce Jenner principle
- The tyranny of the urgent has to be overcome. How important is your book? If you believe it is very important, then you are going to have to say “no” to less important things.
- Find your writing method and then put it in the calendar. Be accountable.
Final Thought: Those who succeed the most also fail the most!

Steve’s talk was very encouraging to me! In addition to almost all of his many powerful and valuable points (and your reaaly good notes above!), I was greatly affected that he self published and sells 700 books a month, and that he has writen 5 books (so far). My mind and spirit are opening up to greater possibilities.
