According to the article on eHow.com,
Last year alone the children’s book market exceeded $4 billion in sales. The key to breaking into this lucrative market is to learn what kids are interested in reading and to convince an editor that you’re the best and only writer who can give it to them.
Many people attending my book-writing class are writing children’s books. eHow.com has two great articles describing how to get a Christian children’s book published.
The first article describes how to self-publish, promote and market your Christian children’s book.
The second article focuses on getting published by a book publishing company. This lists and expands on five powerful tips for getting published:
Under tip #4, the author states:
Don’t write any book without first submitting a full book proposal for review. The reason is simple: writing a book takes a lot of time and energy. If no one is interested in this project, why waste your time, when you could move on to a more profitable one?
I disagree with this statement because self-publishing offers an excellent, profitable, legitimate way to sell and publish a book.
I would hate to think that a perfectly good, entertaining, and fun book won’t get written because a potential book author can’t find a publisher willing to commit to the author’s book proposal.
I would rather see the book get written, then shopped around to publishers. If none are interested, self-publishing is a great “Plan B” that allows you to take the great book you’ve written and get it to your audience.
As a reminder, my book-writing class starts up again on Tuesday, October 7th at 7pm in the East/West Fellowship Room at Bethel Church in Redding, California. See you there!

Dear Mr. Aaron McMaHon,
I just read your manual on how to write and publish a book. It was excellent book and it has renewed my hope to continue to pursue a dream te Lord has given to me. I was wondering about hiring you or someone you can recommend to edit my book – I have a bit of a learning disability, and need a little extra help in the editing. I look forward to hearing from you.
