Week 2: Fears & Obstacles

In Week 2, I talked about the most common fears and obstacles people have about writing a book. As book authors, we cannot let fear keep us from our destiny. We must have a strong, clear vision that will enable us to keep our eyes on our target as we push through any obstacle that gets in our way.

We must not give up until we have achieved our goal. At times, it may be hard. But our vision, passion, and fearless determination is what separates us as book authors from everyone else who just “wants to write a book someday.” We are committed to our own vision!

I also gave the class a list of powerful core values that we, as kingdom book authors, must believe are true. The class then contributed more than 20 other core values they have decided to believe in and speak over themselves.

Book author Chris Overstreet came in and spoke for about 5 minutes about the fears and obstacles he had to overcome to accomplish his vision. He then prayed a very powerful impartation over the class.

Fears & Obstacles

I addressed each of these fears and obstacles that many authors have:

“I don’t have time to write.”
“Why should I write a book that might fail in the marketplace?”
“What if my writing is bad and nobody wants to read it?”
“I’m a terrible writer.”
“What if nobody buys my book?”
“I don’t have any ideas for what to write.”
“I don’t have enough experience or wisdom to write.”
“I don’t know how to collect my thoughts and ideas and turn it into a book.”
“I’m afraid if I start, I won’t finish it. I don’t want to waste my time.”
“What if I don’t know my subject very well?”
“My friends/family will laugh at me if I tell them I’m writing a book.”
“My idea isn’t unique! It was already written by someone else and I’m sure I couldn’t write it better than them.”
